Aerosmith released a statement on social media on Friday announcing that they are officially retiring from touring due to injuries to Steven Tyler's vocal cords.
The legendary rock band has canceled all remaining dates on its farewell tour, “Peace Out.” “In 1970, a spark of inspiration created Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark ignited and has continued to burn for over 50 years,” the band wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement. “We have always wanted to wow you with our performances. As we all know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other. He has worked tirelessly for months to regain the voice he had before his injury. We have watched him suffer, despite having the best medical team at his side.”
“Unfortunately, it has become clear that he will not be able to fully recover from the injuries to his vocal cords,” the band wrote. “We, as a band of brothers, have made the heartbreaking, difficult but necessary decision to retire from the touring stage.”
The moving message continued with a tribute to those who have supported the band throughout their incredible career.
“One last time, we're overwhelmed with words to thank all of you who were willing to go on the road with us. Thank you to our skilled crew, incredible team, and the thousands of talented people who made our historic tour possible,” they said. “Finally, we'd like to thank you, the best fans on the planet. Keep playing our music loud, now and always. Keep dreaming, you all made our dreams come true.”

“Some of you have been with us from the beginning and because of you we made rock n' roll history. It is the greatest honor of our lives to have our music be a part of yours,” they added. “In every club, on every major tour and in epic and intimate moments, you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.”
