‘Afraid To Have Her Speak’: Kellyanne Conway Claims Harris Squandered Her Chance To Change Her Image By ‘Hiding’

Former Trump administration official Kellyanne Conway said on Fox News on Monday that Vice President Kamala Harris has squandered an opportunity to change her image by “going into hiding.”

Conway Appeared Appearing on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” she criticized Harris' team for “hiding” her, arguing that the strategy did not benefit her and cost her an opportunity to redefine her image away from her record in the Biden administration. She added that Harris' advisers had excessively isolated her, to the point of avoiding her making public appearances alone or engaging extensively with the media without Tim Walz present.

“The New York Times/Siena poll was a huge indictment of how Kamala Harris has squandered an opportunity to reinvent herself as this fresh, new blood, transformative, transitional candidate by basically just hiding. And the men around her have been hiding this woman,” Conway told Jesse Watters.

“They're afraid to let her speak to the press, they're afraid to let her be alone with the public, they're afraid she won't even do a 60 Minutes interview without her emotional supporter, Tim Waltz, by her side,” Conway continued.

Other than an Aug. 29 interview with CNN host Dana Bash and Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, Harris has not given a sit-down interview since President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race in July. “Jesse, all of this is reflected in the polls. What are the polls telling us? You mentioned change, and a New York Times poll over the weekend showed 61% of people want the next president to be a change from Biden,” Conway added.

About 61% of voters want changes from a Biden administration, compared with 34% who want only “small changes” and just 3% who are opposed to any change. According to According to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on September 8, 40% of voters see Harris as a symbol of change and 55% see her as the status quo, while 61% see Trump as a symbol of change and only 34% think he represents the status quo.
