After 34 years, cold case of murdered man is solved in Fontana | News

After more than 34 years of investigation, the Fontana Police Department and the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department have closed a case and made an arrest in connection with the murder of Angel Martinez.

On June 8, 1988, Martinez was reported missing by his wife to Cypress Police. It turns out that he was expected to meet people at Fontana, but he never arrived.

On June 20, 1988, his body was found in La Paz County, Arizona. Investigators from the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department were returned to Fontana, but the case was never resolved.

The case remained open from 1988 to 2023 and was handled by multiple investigators. After that, several forensic examinations were conducted, and on March 1, a warrant was issued to 63-year-old Kelvin Keith and his suspect Emmons, who was charged with murder.

Fontana Police Open Case Detectives and DA investigators traveled March 15 to Depere, Wisconsin, where the suspect lived.

Emmons was arrested with the assistance of the Depere Police Department and is currently awaiting extradition to San Bernardino County. San Bernardino County faces trial for murder of Angel Martinez.

Fontana Police Chief Michael Dorsey commended everyone involved in solving the case.
