Detectives from the Mojave County Sheriff’s Department have arrested 22-year-old Darrin Scott Hutchinson of Kingman on felony charges of both aggravated assault with a lethal weapon for domestic violence and disorderly conduct with a weapon. Around 4:46 pm on Monday (March 13), multiple calls were received reporting gunshots at his 2800 McVicar Avenue in Kingman. One of her reporting parties reported that her son, Darrin Hutchinson, shot her husband. Hutchinson was then detained in a washroom near her residence.

A verbal altercation began when Hutchinson requested to borrow a handgun. Hutchinson was denied the use of a handgun, after which the altercation turned physical. During the struggle, Hutchinson gained control of the firearm and shot his father in the abdomen.Darrin allegedly fired multiple shots into the air after his father was shot.

Darin Scott Hutchinson was interviewed about his involvement in the incident and was arrested at the end of the interview and transferred to an adult detention facility in Mojave County. The victim, Kingman, was taken to the Regional Medical Center and then to a Las Vegas hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. This investigation is ongoing.
