Monday, June 26th^th Around 1:20 am, Kingman police made an arrest. Janis Kennet Martes Kingman was charged with felonies of aggravated assault with a dead weapon, disorderly conduct with a weapon, illegal dumping of a weapon, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a drug paraphernalia, misconduct with a weapon and criminal damage. Officers responded to a call of gunfire and a four-door sport utility vehicle leaving the scene at Block 1700 on Florence Street. Upon arrival in the area, a vehicle matching the description was observed entering a store on Block 3100 of Stockton Hill Road. Officers made contact with Mr Mertes in the vehicle and were given full view of dangerous drugs and tools. Mertés was detained and further investigations revealed that he had damaged his ex-girlfriend’s car in Florence, but when confronted by his ex-girlfriend, Mertés pulled out a pistol and aimed it at the victim. opened fire and fled the scene. The victim was unharmed. Mertes was held at the Mojave County Adult Detention Facility on the stated charges.
