Season Countdown for Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide is just days away from kicking off the 2025 season in Tallahassee, facing the Seminoles.
A key focus will be the quarterback position, where veteran Ty Simpson will make his first official start after spending three years as a backup.
Fans have high hopes for Simpson, especially given the team’s inconsistent passing game in recent seasons.
Feeling the weight of these expectations, Simpson recognizes he needs to show why he earned this starting role and why he’s a strong choice for the position throughout the season.
However, it’s crucial for him to manage that pressure without letting it cloud his decision-making. With a talented defense and reliable receivers around him, he just needs to stick to his game, play smart, make the right choices, and minimize mistakes.
AJ McCarron, a two-time national champion with Alabama, recently shared valuable advice on the “Dynasty” podcast that could help guide Simpson.
“I’ll approach it how I did in my first year,” McCarron said. “You have a strong defense, and they’re expected to control the game. Your primary concern in your first start should be protecting the football.”
McCarron reflected on his own preparation leading up to games, recalling insights from former offensive coordinator Jim McElwain. “He always emphasized safe plays: checkdowns and what the defense allowed us. If you focus on ball security, each drive should result in a kick, whether a field goal or punt. That’s how you ensure your team stays in the game and gives themselves a chance.”
If Simpson can emulate McCarron’s approach, Alabama may stand a strong chance this season.
