Alabama Rounds Out Non-Conference Play with Win
Alabama concluded its non-conference schedule with a convincing 38-14 victory over Wisconsin in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide will enjoy a Bye Week, carrying this positive momentum into their upcoming game against Georgia in two weeks.
It took some time for the offense to get going, but they finally made a breakthrough in the first quarter when Germie Bernard, a new wide receiver, scored following a handoff.
Bernard then impacted the game again shortly after, catching a pass from Ty Simpson and sprinting 43 yards into the end zone for a touchdown.
Simpson wasn’t done in the first half either. He tallied an impressive 98 yards, highlighted by a superb 13-yard touchdown throw to Isaiah Horton, who made a great catch amidst defensive pressure.
After an outstanding performance last week, Simpson kept the momentum going, finishing the first half with two touchdown passes and nearing 200 yards. The standout moment of the day came quickly in the second half when Ryan Williams returned to the field for the first time this season.
Williams scored again with a remarkable play, catching the ball, stopping on a dime, and evading defenders in a dazzling fashion to cross into the end zone.
Simpson had one of his best games to date, completing 24 of 29 passes for 382 yards and four touchdowns. Meanwhile, Williams made a stellar return after missing time due to a concussion, catching five passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.
On the defensive side, Bray Hubbard recorded two interceptions, and the team as a whole achieved four sacks.
Alabama will take a week off before facing Georgia in what will be a critical test following their prior struggles against Florida State.
