Alabama AG calls for NCAA to reinstate women’s titles taken away due to transgender sports rules

AG Urges NCAA to Restore Titles for Female Athletes

Attorney General Steve Marshall reached out to the NCAA, asking them to reinstate the titles, awards, and recognitions earned by female athletes. His request was turned down, largely due to a policy allowing biological men to compete in the women’s division.

“Allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports significantly disadvantages girls and young women,” Marshall stated.

“The science backs this up. Biological men have distinct physical advantages, and most Americans recognize this. It’s neither fair nor safe. Although the recent policy banning men from women’s sports is a positive step, it doesn’t undo the injustices that have already occurred.”

The Attorney General highlighted that the roles created and supported by the Biden administration and the NCAA not only permitted biological men to compete with women nationwide but also dismissed the achievements earned at events managed under those policies.

“We appreciate the NCAA’s recent actions, but there remains much more they can do for female athletes competing in their events,” he added.

He emphasized the need for the NCAA to take steps that are in line with Title IX, showing genuine support for women who have been impacted by years of ineffective policies. Female athletes have invested considerable effort into their achievements, and it’s important to acknowledge that.

In February, the US Department of Education also sent a letter to the NCAA, urging them to restore the records that were unjustly erased due to male competitors.
