Alabama AG Steve Marshall at Southern Border: ‘The restraints are lifted’ – Trump’s immigration enforcement is effective

Alabama AG Steve Marshall Joins Republican Peers at Border

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, alongside ten other Republican Attorneys General, visited the Southern border recently to highlight the initial successes of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies during his second term. They also focused on the evolving responsibilities of national leaders in this context.

At Mile Marker 12 7/8 in Yuma, Arizona—an iconic location marking the completion of the Trump Border Wall—Marshall and his fellow Attorneys General applauded the achievements of the Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) in reversing immigration policies from the Biden administration, as well as reinstating immigration enforcement under Trump’s leadership.

Marshall expressed gratitude to federal immigration enforcement personnel for their recent briefings, stating, “What we’re looking at is that bondage is off and they can do their job and keep our boundaries safe.”

He noted that while Alabama is not directly on the border, the state still feels the repercussions of border instability, particularly in terms of the fentanyl crisis and rising violent crime.

Marshall emphasized a significant reduction in illegal border crossings, stating, “It had an impact, not because we changed the law, but we changed leaders. And now we can do their job effectively.”

The gathering also included Attorneys General from states such as Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and others, as well as Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen and Sheriff David Rhodes from Yavapai County.

For four years, Marshall has actively challenged the Biden administration, striving to uphold immigration policies from Trump’s era. “My colleagues and I have been the last line of defense against the Biden administration’s immigration policy for the past four years,” he remarked. “One of the areas we were able to lead is maintaining the Trump administration’s common sense rules for those seeking asylum.”
