Alabama basketball continues winning ways against Aggies, debuts vintage uniform style

On Saturday afternoon at Coleman Coliseum, the No. 15 Alabama basketball team scored another big win, defeating Texas A&M 100-75 in the debut of its new retro jersey.

It was the seventh time this season that Alabama has scored over 100 points, extending what was already a program record.

An incredible first half set the tone for a matchup that left no room for doubt. The Tide led 49-35 at the break, shooting 50 percent (8-for-16) from the 3-point line and 18-of-32 from the field.

Mark Sears, as usual, scored 16 points in the first half, and Rylan Griffen had 11 points.

At halftime, Alabama recognized its 2003-04 team, which had the best finish ever in the NCAA Tournament despite losing to eventual national champion UCONN in the Elite Eight.

The second half was a similar story, with Alabama leading by more than 20 points and never trailing. Sears had 23 points in the game and Griffen had 17 points. Latrell Lightsell added 16 points while making 4 of 3 shots.

Texas A&M's shooting was horrendous, making 4-of-23 (17.4%) from the 3-point line and 28-of-74 (37.8%) from the field.

Alabama made 18 of 41 threes (43.9%) and 37 of 71 field goals (52.1%).

The win was Nate Oats' first regular season win against Texas A&M. Texas A&M is the only team in the conference where Oats is 2-3 after today's game.

With the win, Alabama remains in first place in the SEC with six games remaining. The Tide will play another home game against the Florida Gators this Wednesday at 6pm CST.
