Alabama builders support Steve Marshall for Senate

Support for Attorney General Steve Marshall from Alabama Builders

A group of builders and contractors in Alabama, representing an industry that contributes 5% to the state’s economic output, expressed their endorsement for U.S. Senate Attorney General Steve Marshall on Friday.

Later today, they plan to join Marshall for a press conference in Montgomery to publicly announce their support.

Tim Harrison, Chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), stated, “Attorney General Marshall stood firm for Alabama’s commercial construction industry during crucial times.” He further noted, “By classifying our workforce as essential during the Covid-19 shutdowns, he helped us hire and support families, keeping Alabama’s economy on track.”

Marshall has also achieved a significant victory by securing a nationwide injunction against the federal vaccine mandate for contractors, contending that it represented an illegal overreach by the government.

Harrison emphasized, “He didn’t buckle under pressure. He remained steadfast with Alabama’s workforce, and I’m proud to advocate for our values such as hard work and personal responsibility in Washington.”

Marshall expressed his pride in supporting Alabama’s builders, saying, “These men and women work tirelessly to build this nation from the ground up. They aren’t looking to Washington for help; they just want less government interference.”

His track record includes successfully opposing President Biden’s Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) regulations, which attempted to expand federal authority over private and state lands.

Additionally, according to ABC, he has emerged as a national leader against Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies and has defended the religious rights of federal contractors.

Recently, he compelled the Environmental Protection Agency to retract its “environmental justice” initiative, which he argued exceeded their authority and was damaging to the state.

“ABC’s emphasis on hard work, free markets, and American opportunities aligns perfectly with my goals. In the Senate, I’ll be alongside those who work hard to build this country,” Marshall stated.

The association highlighted that Marshall plays a vital role in ensuring the commercial construction sector in Alabama is protected and successful. During the pandemic, he championed the recognition of construction as an essential industry nationwide.

Alabama builders and contractors form an essential part of the local economy, having created around 200,000 jobs. ABC remains dedicated to advocating for the industry’s needs and its workers.

Marshall is vying for the GOP nomination to fill the open U.S. Senate seat in Alabama by 2026, following the decision of U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville to run for governor. He is among several candidates, including U.S. Congressman Barry Moore and former Navy Seal Jared Hudson.
