Support for Rick Pate in Alabama’s Governor Race
The Alabama Coalition of Business Leaders has expressed its backing for agricultural commissioner Rick Pate in the upcoming 2026 governor’s race. They highlight his track record as a business owner and a strong advocate for economic development.
This coalition, formed recently, is actively seeking to engage other influential figures statewide. They argue that Pate is the sole candidate in the running who brings decades of experience in establishing and managing a successful business.
“We need a leader who acts, not just someone who talks. Rick Pate has taken the initiative to set his salary so that others can follow suit,” they noted.
Supporters emphasized Pate’s accomplishments as the founder of Pate Landscape Co., along with his promises to cut down on excessive regulations, enhance workforce development, and invest in essential infrastructure—like roads and broadband.
The coalition also praised Pate’s dedication to fostering affordable and reliable energy sources for businesses in Alabama.
“Alabama has made significant progress in enhancing its workforce development and encouraging workforce participation, and Rick Pate is uniquely qualified to sustain that momentum,” said a member of the coalition.
Key figures in the coalition include Jimmy and Wayne Bassett from Beck’s Lawn, Beau Bebis from Ark Realty, and various other local business leaders.
Pate has been serving as Alabama’s agricultural commissioner since 2019 and is among the Republicans vying for the nomination on May 19, 2026. He aims to succeed Lieutenant General Ainsworth, who will hit term limits.
The Alabama Republican primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
