Alabama commit named MVP of Elite 11 quarterback camp

For Alabama fans who were unsure or didn't know much about the new additions at the quarterback position, this week was a welcome introduction.

Kieron Russell, a four-star dual-threat prospect and 2025 prospect out of powerhouse Duncanville High School in Texas, was named MVP of the Elite 11 finals.

After three days of competition among the nation's best quarterback prospects, Russell dominated the field with five touchdowns in 7-on-7 games.

Previous quarterbacks to win the MVP award from this elite competition include former Alabama superstar Tua Tagovailoa, current NFL quarterback C.J. Stroud of Ohio State and Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams.

Of the NFL's 32 starting quarterbacks, 27 have participated in at least one Elite 11 event.

Russell was committed to SMU but transferred to Alabama just over two weeks ago. Last season, he led Duncanville to a 14-1 record and a second straight 6A state title with Texas.

His performance in this tournament will almost certainly earn him five-star status, and in everyone's eyes, Cullen DeBoer may have locked himself up as Alabama's quarterback of the future.
