Graduation of First Class in Customer Service Training Program
Last Thursday, we celebrated the graduation of the inaugural class from the Customer Service Professional Training Program. This eight-week course, held at Jefferson State, saw ten graduates successfully complete the program.
Angelia Hale, an instructor, expressed her enthusiasm: “This program is fantastic, and it’s really beneficial for anyone passionate about customer service. I think all businesses should consider it to enhance their customer service teams.”
The program aims to equip students with essential skills for excelling in customer service roles. Classes are scheduled in the evening to accommodate those with busy lives. The curriculum includes a range of topics, such as call center operations, face-to-face customer service, workplace etiquette, effective communication, CRM software, and sales techniques.
Partner companies involved in the initiative include Alabama Power, Alabama Blue Cross Blue Shield, Spire, Protective Life Insurance, Alpha Insurance, Ask Telemarketing, Guardian Credit Union, and Regional Bank.
Leah Bigby from Jefferson State’s Department of Work Dynamics shared her pride in the graduates and the partnerships that brought the program to life. “Collaborating with industry leaders, we’ve created a curriculum that meets workforce needs and prepares students for real-world challenges. This graduating class showcases the strong connection between education and industry.”
Good customer service is vital for any successful business. This program paves the way for a rewarding career, providing foundational skills that can lead to further growth within the companies involved.
On May 28th, interviews were conducted with partner companies. Hale is hopeful that all ten graduates will secure excellent job opportunities.
The future looks promising for the program, with the next class anticipated to be held at Trenholm State. While the exact start date isn’t finalized, Hale expects it to begin in late summer or early fall. Lawson State is also planning to offer classes later this year.
Reflecting on her experience, Hale mentioned, “I had a great group of students who were engaged and asked numerous questions. I received messages from them after class, and I was always there to support them. Truly, we couldn’t have asked for a better class.”
If you, or someone you know, is interested in joining the program, potential applicants can submit their information through Lawson State Community College, Trenholm State Community College, or Jefferson State Community College.
