Alabama Democratic Party Vice Chair Tabitha Isner slammed former President Trump's response to the New York conviction and criticized the Republican Party's continued support for Trump.
Isner appeared on Alabama Public Television's “Capitol Journal” and blasted President Trump, the Alabama attorney general and the Republican Party as a whole.
'[I]”There's a sense that the Republican Party has become the party of victimhood,” Isner argues. “Republicans love to cry victimhood, and it's an interesting phenomenon to watch. Donald Trump loves to be the center of attention…Trump is a crybaby, and nothing that happens is his fault. When things don't go his way, he always blames somebody else.”
Isner believes Republicans are too willing to follow Trump no matter what he does.
“[H]”He's loudly saying, 'I could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and the Republican Party would support me,' and I think he's right in that respect,” Isner explained. “So I'm worried about the future of the Republican Party. Let me be clear, I'm a Democrat. I want Democrats to win. But I want to live in a two-party system where both parties work, and I'm very worried that the Republican Party has become just the party of Donald J. Trump and his victimhood.”

In response to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall's recent visit to New York to criticize the trial of the former president, Isner said there were more important things for Alabamians to focus on.
“Attorney General Steve Marshall went to New York to support Donald Trump during his trial and to stand by his side so he could have his photo taken with the president,” Isner continued. “Meanwhile, in Alabama, there's child labor in our auto plants, but Attorney General Steve Marshall is too busy traveling to New York to do anything. There's a coal mine in Alabama, and a house over the mine explodes, killing a man and nearly killing his grandson. Attorney General Steve Marshall could investigate, but he's too busy looking out for Donald Trump. There's so much more we can talk about and do.”
Isner also criticized Republicans for their unwillingness to work with Democrats to solve the illegal immigration crisis.
“Let's solve the border problem. Let's solve it,” she said. “We wanted to solve it through congressional action, but Donald Trump didn't want to solve the problem because he wants to be watched by all the cameras while he talks about the problem. He likes to talk about problems, but he doesn't like to find solutions.”
