The Alabama Democratic Party's official X account came under heavy criticism over the weekend after a post compared recently executed assassin Kenneth Smith to a Holocaust victim.
The controversial post was made in response to a post Gov. Kay Ivey made in commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
“Today we remember the millions of lives lost to unfathomable hatred. We remember that anti-Semitism is still trying to re-emerge in our world,” Ivey said in the post. wrote. “We will continue to preserve the memory of this painful history so that such evil acts will never be repeated.”
The ALDemocrats page responded with a post that shocked and angered many.
“Thursday, with your permission, a man was gassed to death for 22 minutes. Yes, please tell me more about 'I never want to see such evil done again.'”
