The Alabama Crimson Tide lost to the Kentucky Wildcats 117-95 on Saturday afternoon in Lexington.

It was just such a day for the Tide in the first half, when Alabama allowed 58 points and trailed by 16 at halftime. Kentucky shot nearly 65 percent from the field and made 8 of 13 3-pointers.

Alabama attempted just eight 3-pointers in the first frame, an unusually low number for coach Nate Oats' team.

Kentucky superstar guard Antonio Reeves scored 15 points in the first half and 24 points in the game.

Oats gave a scathing critique at halftime, telling the Crimson Tide Sports Network exactly how he felt during the halftime broadcast.

“Our defense stinks. We have to protect the ball more. We can't keep cutting back. We didn't have the toughness in the first half that we needed to win this game,” he said.

The second half didn't go so well for Alabama, but after the Tide briefly cut the deficit to 14 points, Kentucky led by 20 at the first intermission and then had back-to-back turnovers.

Things got even worse by the time the second intermission rolled around, and the Cats were unable to do anything but close out the game, leading by 26 points and scoring a mind-boggling 84 points with 11:55 remaining. Obtained.

Immediately after the second break, Oats had to call a quick timeout after Kentucky drained two more quick threes and looked like he had everything going for him on the day, extending the lead to 33.

From there, it was just a formality as Kentucky crossed the 100-point mark with 8:46 left and led 104-69 at the under-8 timeout, while Alabama scored 26 and 26 points. That ended the game. They fell back slightly, but it was still a 22-point drubbing.

With the win, Kentucky improves to 9-5 and two games back in the conference.

Alabama falls to 11-3 in the SEC and will likely be in second place in the conference by the end of the weekend, pending the results of home matchups between Tennessee and Texas A&M.

The Tide will need to bounce back quickly, as the remaining four games won't be easy. Next up is a road game at Ole Miss on Wednesday night, before the biggest game of the year that could decide the SEC regular season title: a home matchup with Tennessee State.
