Alabama Farmers Federation makes endorsements for state school board


Farm PAC, the influential political arm of the Alabama Farmers Federation, announced new support for the Alabama School Board on Tuesday.

Candidates they supported include Jackie Zeigler (R-Mobile, 1st District), Tonya Smith Chestnut (D-Selma, 5th District), and Kelly Mooney (R-Indian Springs, 3rd District). (Ward) and Allen Long (R-Florence, 7th Ward). ).

In the organization's announcement, Federation President Jimmy Parnell expressed his support and emphasized the importance of providing quality education to the state's children.

“We have no greater responsibility than to educate our children and prepare them to be productive citizens,” Parnell said. “The Federation is committed to helping young people develop the knowledge, skills and character necessary for successful careers, which in turn benefits their families, communities and economies. Parnell said the endorsed candidate has the “background and dedication” to helping Alabama's children reach their full potential.

The Alabama State Board of Education is a nine-member elected body that sets Alabama's policy for K-12 schools.

The 2024 Alabama primary election will be held on March 5th, and the primary runoff election will be held on April 16th. The general election is scheduled for November 5th.

The Alabama Federation of Agriculture is the state's largest agricultural organization with approximately 350,000 members. It is made up of 67 independent county federations that act as the voice of the local agricultural industry.
