Alabama Farmers Federation Backs Local Candidates

The Alabama Farmers Federation announced on Tuesday its endorsement of Senator Larry Stutz for District 6 and Norman Crow, a Tuscaloosa business leader for House District 63.

Senate District 6 encompasses Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, and Limestone counties, while House District 63 includes parts of Tuscaloosa County.

“Senator Larry Stutz has demonstrated his commitment to conservative values, and we are proud to support him,” Luther Bishop, chairman of the Colbert County Farmers Federation, remarked. “He’s approachable and dedicated to his constituents. We need him representing us in Montgomery.”

Stutz, who holds both a DVM from Auburn University and an MD from the University of South Alabama, spent 32 years operating Colbert OB/Gyn in Sheffield. Throughout his career, he has seen over 22,000 patients and delivered more than 12,000 babies.

“It’s a tremendous honor to have the support of the farmers in District 6,” Stutz stated. “They are among the hardest working individuals I know, and I am committed to carrying their values and work ethic to Montgomery, representing everyone in the district.”

Crow is set to be the Republican candidate for the special general election scheduled for January 13, 2026.

“Norman Crow has been a significant leader in Tuscaloosa County,” remarked John E. Walker IV of the Tuscaloosa County Farmers Federation. “His influence spans various facets of our community, and he consistently delivers exceptional results. He’ll bring that same effectiveness to the Alabama Legislature.”

Crow earned his accounting degree from the University of Alabama in 1990. His professional journey includes roles at Southern Natural Gas, Teneco Energy, Duke Energy, and Dependent Energy, along with innovative energy services. He also owns DT Freight, a local transportation business, and is a licensed real estate agent with Hamner Real Estate.

“We are pleased to support the farmers of Alabama,” Crow said. “We look forward to collaborating with them to promote the state’s valuable resources, both within Tuscaloosa and throughout West Alabama.”

The Alabama Farmers Federation is the largest farming organization in the state, boasting over 362,000 member families. They employ a grassroots method for candidate selection and depend on Alabama Farm Pack approval from local County Farmers Federation boards for elections.
