The Alabama Forestry Commission proudly announced that a downtown Montgomery mural created by an Alabamian from Alexander City has been officially added to the Alabama Mural Trail. The new mural was unveiled at a dedication ceremony and open house Thursday as part of AFC's 100th anniversary celebrations.

“Today, we dedicate this mural to past, present, and future Alabama Forestry Commission employees who have dedicated the past 100 years to protecting Alabama’s forests and citizens.” said Forester Rick Oates. event.
In his remarks, Oates also praised the ability of artist Charles Faubus, who created the acclaimed mural.
“Charles' art is evocative and captivating…it makes you want to learn more about the subject matter, which is exactly what we wanted to create with the mural here,” Oates said. “This wall vividly illustrates our agency's mission to protect Alabama's forests, help landowners maintain them through good forest management, and educate people about the importance of our state's forests. . This is also an opportunity to further enhance the beauty of downtown Montgomery.”
Oates said plans are in the works to create green space in the area adjacent to the mural in the near future.
The AFC mural is located at 513 Madison Avenue.
The Alabama Mural Trail says its goal is to give the state a sense of community, promote economic impact and also help bring people together.
