Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson: ‘My faith comes before football’

Alabama Crimson Tide Prepares for Season Opener

The Alabama Crimson Tide is gearing up for the start of the season, set to face off against Florida’s Seminoles this Saturday. This will be the first game in two years for Ty Simpson, who steps in as the new quarterback.

Interestingly, Ty has spent this time on the sidelines, preparing for this moment. Now, he’s ready for his inaugural start, showcasing his growth and patience.

In a recent episode of Hey Coach, fans got a closer look at Simpson. He shared insights about his Christian faith and mentioned Tim Tebow, the famed Heisman winner and national champion from Florida, as his football role model.

Simpson admires Tebow not just for his abilities on the field but for his character off it as well. “I loved the way he played, how passionate he was and how outspoken he was about his faith. I thought it was really cool,” he mentioned during the broadcast. “I’m on this platform right now, and it’s what I want to be. I want people to know that I’m a Christian first, and then I’m a football player.”

He also talked about how his father, Jason, who has been a longtime head coach at UT Martin, has influenced both his athletic skills and his faith in God. “Growing up, my dad is a coach, and that’s something I want to do at some point,” Simpson noted. “Watching him connect with his players and offer them guidance was really inspiring.”

As he prepares to take the field as QB1, Simpson hopes to make his family, teammates, and state proud during the game.
