Alabama Senate President Supports Tuberville for Governor
On Thursday morning, Alabama Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger backed Governor Tommy Tuberville for the 2026 election. He highlighted their mutual conservative values, dedication to Alabama, and focus on economic development and job creation.
“I’m eager to collaborate with a senator who shares our vision for Alabama’s sensible policies,” remarked U.S. Senator Tuberville.
Gudger recalled the time in 2021 when he and Tuberville were on stage with President Trump, addressing a crowd of enthusiastic Alabamians advocating for governance that prioritizes the people over politics.
Elected to the Alabama Senate in 2018, Gudger previously served on the Kalman City Council and is now the owner of a local business.
In late 2024, he was chosen by his peers within the Alabama Senate Republican Caucus to serve as Pro Tem after a historic vote led to the ousting of the previous Pro Tem, who was involved with the Alabama Department of Labor and Power.
Gudger characterized Tuberville as a “battlefield general” in the cultural conflicts, particularly in opposing issues like gender identity in sports and the presence of inappropriate materials in libraries.
He emphasized Tuberville’s commitment to empowering businesses, from major corporations to small local enterprises, ensuring they have the resources necessary for growth and fair compensation.
Gudger joins an array of officials and organizations backing Tuberville’s gubernatorial candidacy.
The legislative session is set to kick off on January 13, 2026, with the Alabama Republican primary occurring on May 19, 2026. Once Tuberville secures his position as the Republican candidate, the general election will take place on November 3, 2026, with him expected to assume office in January 2027.
