Looking Ahead to Next Week

On Monday, the likelihood of showers continues in South Alabama, while other areas will mostly stay dry. Unfortunately, the outlook for substantial rainfall across the deep South isn’t encouraging. For the rest of the week, expect sporadic showers with temperatures in the 80s. Models suggest that cooler air will push into the northern half of the state by Friday.

Tropical Developments

Tropical waves are expected to emerge off the coast of Africa in the next couple of days. This wave might interact with another system in the eastern tropical Atlantic, leading to some slow development as it moves northwest at 15-20 mph. The chances of development right now are around 30%.

There’s also a low-pressure area forming near the northwest Bahamas and southern Florida, but it seems to be moving slowly. The development potential for this system is about 10%. For the Gulf Coast, it appears that no tropical storms or hurricanes are on the horizon for at least the next week or so.
