Alabama’s agriculture department encourages the ‘Thank a Farmer’ campaign

The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industry is promoting its “Thanks to the Farmers” initiative, aimed at recognizing the hard work and dedication of farmers across the state. This campaign was officially launched in late January by Commissioner Rick Pate.

Pate expressed, “Through the Appreciation to the Farmers initiative, we hope Alabamians will develop a greater appreciation for the food they enjoy and for the people who cultivate it.”

He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of food security, which he termed as national security. “Farmers are frontline workers providing essential food. We are proud to honor them and want to emphasize the significant role consumers play in supporting families in Alabama,” he added.

The department has developed commercial ads to effectively communicate this message.

In a recent social media post, Pate underscored the crucial role farmers play for all Americans.

“Every day, farmers rise with the sun and tirelessly work to produce the food we rely on,” he remarked. “The quiet prayers for rain and their hard work contribute billions to our economy. They don’t just grow our food; they cultivate our future.”

The “Thanks to the Farmers” initiative includes a robust strategy that combines marketing, advertising, and media outreach. The campaign maintains an active social media presence to promote television, radio, digital, and print advertisements, thus fostering community involvement.
