Still, with less than five minutes remaining, Alabama still appeared to be in control of the game. Minutes earlier, Alabama was moving the ball after forcing consecutive 3-and-outs to take the lead, but a Jalen Milroe fumble gave Michigan the ball around midfield.
Alabama escaped a mistake, but a long drive that would have resulted in a touchdown was stalled by a sack after Michigan missed a field goal and gave the ball back to Alabama for four points with 10 minutes remaining.
With Will Reichard's 52-yard field goal to give Alabama a touchdown lead and shutting down Michigan's offense for the entire second half, Saban and Co. had to feel pretty good about their situation. Ta.

What followed was Michigan's most impressive drive of the game. An eight-play, 75-yard march led by JJ McCarthy tied the game with less than two minutes left and pushed the game to the brink of overtime, but in the end, Michigan trailed by just one point. better team.
