Alda Mae (Webb) Stapleton, 94, died Friday, February 17, 2023 at Hill Top House in Bucklin, Kansas. As her fourth child to Stell Russell and her Verla Lavina (Johnson) Webb, she was born on April 7, 1928, on a family farm in rural Stevens County, 18 miles west of Liberal. Was born. She attended Lafayette School and later Hugoton High School. She married Clifford her Eugene Stapleton on May 27, 1945, on the same family farm where she was born.
The Stapleton family farm, four miles south of Sublette, became home as a young couple. Alda Mae became a stay-at-home mom, she helped out on the farm by driving tractors and combines and helped with irrigation. But the most important role in her life was that of Roy, the mother of her five children: Van, Randall, Rodney, Rita, and Rick. In later years, Alda and Clifford enjoyed her club events with her rods and customs at Sand Hill and traveled in camper vans.Clifford died in 2001
Alda Mae was a member of Nazarene’s Sublette Church, as well as a member of the Banner Club and the Friendly Neighbor Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Stapleton, from South Hutchinson, Kansas. Sons: Roy Van Stapleton and wife Sharon of Liberal, Kansas; Randall Stapleton and wife Pam of Apache Junction, Arizona; Rodney Stapleton and wife Janice of Marineville, Kansas; and Rick Stapleton of Dodge City, Kansas. Stapleton and wife Peggy. 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. and one great-grandchild.
She was widowed by her husband, Clifford Stapleton. her sister, Lavonne Brown; and her brothers, Verl Webb and Delmer Webb.
The visitation will be held at the Weeks Family Funeral Home and Crematorium on Friday, February 24 from 1:00 to 7:00 pm.Families welcome friends from 5pm to 7pm
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25 at Sublette Church of the Nazarene, followed by a service at Banner Cemetery followed by burial.
