Alec Baldwin wants ‘misguided’ lawsuit filed by Halyna Hutchins’ parents and sister dismissed

Alec Baldwin asks judge to dismiss lawsuit filed by parents and sister Halina Hutchins, the cinematographer of “Rust,” said she had distanced herself from Hutchins before her death and had “no viable cause for action.”

“Losing a daughter and sister is undoubtedly hard under any circumstances. But the Plaintiff, who was physically, financially and emotionally separated for years before Halina died, has a hard time to deal with the Defendant. There is no viable cause of action,” the document states. “This behavior is particularly misguided.”

Hutchins’ parents and sister filed a lawsuit in February. Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez Reid of “Last” Armorer, Assistant Director David Halls, and Last Movie Productions, LLC are named. as a defendant.

Gloria Allred, an attorney representing the Hutchins family in the lawsuit, said in a statement on Saturday that Baldwin was “again trying to avoid responsibility.”

“It is very clear under New Mexico law that applies to California courts that he is responsible for all damages he has done to the entire Halina Hutchins family,” Allred said. “We are here to make sure he takes responsibility for his actions.”

Hutchins, 42, was shot dead while filming at Bonanza Creek Ranch on October 21, 2021. As Baldwin was rehearsing with a pistol, the gun fired, killing Hutchins and injuring the director. Joel Sousa.

Baldwin has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.last year’s actor sued Hutchins’ husband, Matthew Hutchins, their son, and estate claimed that reckless behavior and cost-cutting led to Hutchin’s death. Baldwin and Matthew Hutchins reached a settlement October 2022.

Baldwin said in Thursday’s court filing that he believed the settlement “should have been the end of the matter.”

“But that’s not the case,” the document refers to the new lawsuit. “The court should dismiss the plaintiff’s complaint with prejudice.”

The next trial in the case is scheduled for June 9.
