Polanco, a 30-year-old switch hitter, joined the Mariners during the offseason as they were looking for a hitter to fit into their core pitching rotation. Polanco, an All-Star in 2019, has been consistently productive in his 10 years in MLB, posting a batting average of .269/.334/.446. He will likely be placed in the middle of Seattle's lineup.

The Mariners' batting talent currently includes JP Crawford, Julio Rodriguez, Ty France, Cal Lowry, and several new additions in Mitch Haniger and Mitch Haniger.
