American Pickers eyeing Maricopa again

Maricopa’s mining boom is long gone, but a couple of iconic reality TV characters still think they can dig for treasure here.

Collectibles aficionados are sniffing out clues for the filming of a new episode next month.program manager said Inmaricopa This morning, they will be filming an episode of a popular TV show near Maricopa, though the exact date and location have not yet been revealed.

Pickers dig garages, barns, basements and abandoned buildings from coast to coast, hoping to uncover valuable items along the way.

One of the show’s producers, Joshua Carlin, said the team was open to everything.

“From vintage bikes, pedal cars and old Schwinn bicycles to Tiffany lamps and baseball memorabilia,” he says. “If it’s fun and interesting.”

Pickers keep an eye out for family heirlooms and chochiks with stories to tell. Arizona has been a hotbed for these items in the past, and Pinal County is also on the itinerary.

Karlin said the pickers only look at private collections, not auctions, museums, stores or other public places.
