Amy Schumer Breaks Her Silence After Social Media Ruthlessly Trolls Her Swollen Face

Amy Schumer broke her silence Wednesday after being dragged on social media after appearing on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” with a puffy face.

Footage of her guest appearance on a late-night talk show quickly went viral, with doctors suggesting something was wrong with the star and some online trolls comparing the 42-year-old to a cabbage patch doll. Some fans made fun of her weight, while others speculated that she may have had severe plastic surgery.

“I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about,” Schumer wrote. Instagram, Thursday. “There are medical and hormonal issues going on in my world right now, but I'm okay.”

Schumer's interview was intended to promote the second season of Hulu's “Life & Beth,” which debuts Friday, but it quickly sparked much debate about her appearance.

The comedian and actress tackled the rumors head on and shut them down once and for all.

“Thank you so much for everyone's opinions on my face! For almost 20 years, I've enjoyed feedback and reflection on my appearance, as all women do,” she wrote on Instagram. The post on the gram drew applause. “And like you said, it's more swollen than normal right now.”

“Historically, women's bodies have been less studied medically than men's. The book “all in her head'' explains this well. I believe there is no need for an excuse and no obligation to explain,” Schumer said, silencing his critics.

She went on to offer some personal insight into her current situation.

“But I wanted to use this opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you're in,” Schumer said. “Like every other woman and every human being, I have days when I feel confident and very energetic, and other days when I just want to put a bag over my head.”

“But I feel strong and beautiful and I'm so proud of this TV show that I made. I wrote, starred in and directed. Maybe I can focus on that a little bit more.” wrote Schumer.
