A new version of the 1997 thriller “Anaconda” is in the works, with big name actors in negotiations for leading roles.
Paul Rudd and Jack Black are two of the big names currently in early talks to star in a new Sony Pictures movie. No star has been named yet, but discussions are underway, according to the company. deadline.

Deadline reported that a person familiar with the matter said that while a deal is still far from a done deal, talks have been ongoing for some time.
According to Deadline, the new version of Anaconda won't be a remake of the original film, but will instead take a more comedic approach.

Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten have written the screenplay for the new film, with Gormican directing. Gormican also wrote the screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. According to Deadline, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form will produce the movie under their Fully Formed banner.

The first Anaconda movie starred Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube. The story follows a film crew held hostage by a hunter who forces them to join an adventure to capture the world's deadliest snake, the anaconda.
