Phoenix (Az Family) -If you’re a snow enthusiast, it was a very late start for Arizona’s high country. March is another story, with some storms supplying a considerable amount of snow. But was it enough to make up for the deficit in 2025? The answer depends on where we are talking.
Flagstaff has a considerable position in the snow sector, but since the beginning of this year, it has not kept up to normal.
From January 1st to March 16th, Flagstaff received 44 inches of snow. This is less than 50 inches of 6 inches that are normally recorded by this date.
Interestingly, snowfall in Williams, Arizona has actually become normal since January 1st. The normal snowfall (brown line) until March 16th is 35.7 inches, while the actual snowfall (green line) is 37.3 inches.
However, Williams’ total is higher than what the chart above shows. why? The official NWS totals lack data for two snowstorms last Thursday and Friday. To fill this gap, I checked out the weather station in Williams Cocola’s volunteer weather spotter network. Last Thursday and Friday, the station recorded a total of 12 inches of snow! So Williams could have a larger snowfall surplus than the chart above shows.
