“The View” co-host Ana Navarro falsely claimed Friday that the parents of Laken Riley, 22, who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant, were in attendance at the State of the Union.
Mr. Biden mentioned Mr. Riley's death after Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene heckled her to say Mr. Riley's name during a speech. The president then held up a white button to symbolize solidarity with Riley, calling her “an innocent young woman killed by an illegal alien.”
“He turned immigration, which I agree is the most difficult issue facing him, into one of the most powerful moments in his speech. He took it and looked at her parents and expressed his condolences. He did it and went and fought against Donald Trump and his minions. rattled off every point in the bipartisan immigration bill that they blocked.”
Republican Georgia Rep. Mike Collins said he invited Riley's parents to attend the State of the Union address, but they declined and decided to grieve the loss of their daughter from home. according to On Fox News.
Riley allegedly suffered “severe bodily injuries” and skull damage and caused “bodily harm” while jogging near the University of Georgia (UGA), where she was studying to become a nurse. He is believed to have died at the hands of illegal immigrant Jose Antonio Ibarra. Channel 2 News reported. Mr. Biden faced harsh criticism for not mentioning Mr. Riley during a border visit to Brownsville, Texas, in late February. He ignored Riley's death in a Feb. 28 speech on crime.
Former President Donald Trump said he spoke with Riley's parents during a visit to Eagle Pass, Texas, to address the border crisis.
“Exactly one week ago, a beautiful 22-year-old nursing student from Georgia was attacked so savagely that she was almost unrecognizable while she was on her morning run,” President Trump said in February. He said this in a speech at Eagle Pass on the 29th. “She was a beautiful young woman, a wonderful person and the best nursing student. I spoke to her parents yesterday and they are incredible people who are incredibly devastated. She was beautiful in many ways, but she was brutally assaulted, severely assaulted, kidnapped, and brutally murdered.”
California Democratic Rep. Katie Porter told CNN's Erin Burnett that “an example” of an illegal immigrant killing a citizen should not change U.S. policy. CNN's Jake Tapper accused Republicans of “seizing” Reilly's death to attack Biden over the border crisis.
According to the New York Post, authorities have arrested another Venezuelan immigrant in Virginia on suspicion of raping a 14-year-old girl. The suspect, 32-year-old Renzo Mendoza Montez, entered the United States illegally but was released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in September, law enforcement said. Said Fox News.
