An infuriated crowd of Congressional Democrats attempted to protest President Donald Trump’s plan to close the agency into the Department of Education (ED) building on Friday.
The Trump administration has begun drafting An order directing the passage of laws to eliminate EDs, eliminate Congress and formally dissolve Congress to ensure that public education is administered by the state. Members of the Democratic Congress, including California Rep. Maxine Waters, lamented security guards as they denied access to the building.
“What are they afraid of? They know we’re here,” Waters said.
“Did you say you are making this decision to stand in front of this door on your behalf? On behalf of the Ministry of Education, you will be out here and that members of the Congress will follow us. Did you end up blocking? Did you say you should stand here or have decided to stand here and block members of Congress from entering the Department of Education?” Florida Democrat Maxwell Frost asked the guard. The security guards at the entrance were not upset as Congressional Democrats simultaneously demanded that they be granted access to the building as they were members of Congress. Other members claimed they were in the building to protect American children, saying that the children in the country were better than they were rejected.
Waters instructed Fox News cameras to head to the security guards after accusing them of preventing them from accessing the building “without a valid reason.”
“I want you to see this [security guard] Here’s a federal employee he told us… We pay him and raise money to make sure we have the Department of Education. I said. “He’s standing here today and blocking the door, but we can’t give us a reason why he’s blocking this door.”
“I think it should be clear to parents in the US. If you want to advocate on your behalf, you are not allowed to come to this building where you pay taxes,” another lawmaker said. “Parents with children with disabilities can access if they are blocked. You voted for a member of Congress to advocate on your behalf.
