This regulation increases the minimum water and energy efficiency levels that washers and dryers must meet in the future to be on store shelves. More energy-efficient units often don't work as effectively or quickly as older, less efficient models, Consumers Union executive director O.H. Skinner told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Not everyone is convinced that the regulation will have the win-win outcome that the Department of Energy foresees.
