“Australia is one of our most powerful allies. We have hearing [trilateral security partnership with the United Kingdom and Australia] We can continue to build submarines because it is the key to their national security and that is the key to our industrial base – that’s awfully important,” Warner said. There are no tariffs, one of the few developed countries. There is a trade surplus with Australia. ”
“So, Ambassador Greer, could you please explain to me how you help America’s national security or balance of our trade when we have? And I loved your flashy Greek formula, which was basically a bad mathematics on steroids – formula, trade surplus, in this strong relationship, did Australia get hit by 10% tariffs?” he asked.
Greer pointed out that Australia’s 10% tariffs are at the lowest possible rate at Trump’s tariffs. Warner interrupted him after he claimed that America banned American beef and pork.
“Sorry… we already have a free trade agreement,” the senator said. “We have a trade surplus, so it gets so bad, why were they banged in the first place?”
“We are working on the president’s largest deficit of $1.2 trillion, the largest in human history. [Joe] Biden left us behind,” Greer said. “We should raise our scores in Australia. They ban our beef and our pork.”
Warner spoke on Greer and began screaming at him.
“Ambassador Greer, answer the question in Australia. We have a trade surplus with Australia,” Warner said. “We have a free trade agreement. They are a very important national security partner. Why were they slammed with tariffs?”
Greer repeated his accusations that Australia bans American beef and pork.
Australia has not imported American beef since 2005, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). It has been reported.
During his Wednesday announcement Trump has particularly hone the issue with the tariffs he was imposing.
“Australian ban – and they’re great people, they’re amazing. But they’re banning American beef, but they imported $3 billion in Australian beef last year alone,” the president said. “They don’t eat our beef. They don’t want it because they don’t want it to affect the farmers. And are you blaming them?
