Democratic voters went to the polls Tuesday night to choose from a field of 11 candidates for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District. Several of these candidates are incumbents at the state legislative level, including House Minority Leader and state Rep. Anthony Daniels (R-Huntsville) and former Obama administration official Shomali.・Advanced to the final election against Mr. Figures of Mobile.
Out of more than 57,000 total votes cast, he received 43% of the votes compared to Daniels' 23%.
The two remaining Democratic front-runners are deciding the fate of new districts designed to favor the eventual nominees, a product of last year's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that reshaped Alabama's congressional maps. To decide, the party will contest in a run-off election on April 16, 2024.
On Tuesday night, both candidates shared their strategies for winning the race in just over a month.

“As this district is drawn, I see an opportunity to bring experienced leadership to Washington to ensure that the voices of the people from Mobile to Montgomery and every county in between are finally heard in Congress. We were convinced,” Figures added. “Tonight, voters in the 2nd District seized that opportunity, and it’s thanks to each and every one of you who voted, volunteered, and supported our campaign.”

Daniels thanked his supporters after the runoff and shifted gears to draw attention to the “spending from special interests” influencing the primary.it was report On behalf of a crypto PAC active during the primary campaign, $1.7 million was invested in Figures' favor.

“Tonight's results show that the people of the 2nd Congressional District want a representative who understands their community and has a proven track record of getting results,” Daniels said Tuesday night.
Ultimately, the Democratic candidate for the 2nd Congressional District in the Nov. 5, 2024 general election will be either former state Sen. Dick Brewbaker or Montgomery real estate attorney, who has received significant support from the Alabama agriculture industry. She will be competing against Carolyn Dobson.
