New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced her intention to introduce articles of impeachment against the Supreme Court justice on Monday.
The Supreme Court ruled on Monday in Trump v. United States that the president has immunity from prosecution for “official business” performed while in office. “Today's ruling is an attack on American democracy,” she said in the post. “It is the responsibility of Congress to protect our nation from this authoritarian rule.”

Trump was indicted in August 2023 on four felony counts for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
The Supreme Court The decision was 6-3. The majority opinion was written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, with Justice Amy Coney Barrett joining in part.
The dissenting opinion was written by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and was joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson.
