Jarrett Criticizes Kimmel’s Response to Controversial Remarks
Gregg Jarrett, a legal analyst for Fox News, appeared on Fox Business and sharply criticized Jimmy Kimmel, labeling him “Craven and Wakerley.” This came after Kimmel resumed his show on Tuesday without issuing an apology for ABC’s decision to pause it, following backlash over comments he made regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
During his appearance on “The Evening Edit,” Jarrett expressed disbelief at Kimmel’s claims, stating, “An honest person would own up to their mistakes and apologize. Repenting shows decency, but that’s not Jimmy Kimmel.” He mentioned being taken aback when Kimmel said, “It was not my intention to blame a particular group for Kirk’s assassination.” Jarrett argued that Kimmel’s actual intention was clear.
Jarrett accused Kimmel of intentionally spreading misinformation while refusing to accept any responsibility for his words. “That’s precisely what he did. His statements from a week ago were clear: he falsely alleged that the assailant was part of the so-called ‘Magu.’ This is simply untrue,” he continued. “What Kimmel is lacking are basic moral values—decency, compassion, and honesty. It’s good someone is calling him out for this charade.” He emphasized the need for continued scrutiny of Kimmel’s actions.
Following these events, ABC faced criticism online for congratulating or justifying the assassination on platforms, drawing attention from various commentators, including MSNBC analyst Matthew Dowd and Washington Post columnist Karen Attia.
Prior to Kimmel’s episode on September 15, Governor Spencer Cox of Utah discussed evidence from the manhunt for the assassin, Tyler Robinson, during a press conference on September 12. Media reports indicated that Robinson subscribed to “left-wing” ideology, noting that the associated slogan was found on the ammunition used in the incident.
