On Monday, the Georgia Court of Appeals canceled oral arguments scheduled for Dec. 5 regarding Fani Willis’ possible disqualification.
A court filing obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation did not provide a specific reason for the sudden cancellation.
According to Atlanta First News, Willis filed a motion on June 12 seeking to dismiss his appeal of disbarment from the extortion case involving President-elect Donald Trump and his co-defendants, stating the reasons for the motion. “Insufficient evidence” was cited. In response, Trump’s lawyers branded her motion merely a desperate “Virgin Mary” effort, lacking legal and factual basis.

President Trump’s motion states, “Simply put, the state’s motion is a calculated and dishonest attempt to mislead this court for the express purpose of precluding interlocutory appellate review of the district attorney’s misconduct.” There is,” he said. “The trial court has already determined that these issues are important in granting the certificate of immediate examination and this court in granting the interlocutory application.”
In June, the Georgia Court of Appeals ordered a temporary stay of the extortion case against Trump. The appeals court directed Judge Scott McAfee to freeze all ongoing proceedings while it considers the defendants’ request to remove Willis from the case. The defendants allege that McAfee benefited financially from appointing Willis, even though he previously admitted to “serious misconduct” due to his romantic relationship with special counsel Nathan Wade. He had decided to let Mr. Willis continue in his duties.
