US Senate Youth Program Announces Applications for Washington Week
US Senators Katie Britt from Alabama and Edward Markey from Massachusetts have opened applications for the upcoming 64th Annual Washington Week of the US Senate Youth Program, set to take place from March 7 to March 14, 2026.
This year, two students from Alabama will be chosen to represent their state in Washington, D.C., during the event.
Britt expressed enthusiasm, stating, “The U.S. Youth Program attracts the best and brightest young leaders. I am excited to support this program as co-chair this year. I look forward to meeting the talented students we select.”
She emphasized that the week would create lasting memories and offer significant lessons and opportunities that could help shape these young individuals’ futures.
The program is competitive and focuses on high school juniors and seniors from across the country, including the District of Columbia and Department of Defense Educational Activities.
Participants will spend a week in the nation’s capital, where they will engage with prominent federal officials, including senators, a Supreme Court justice, Cabinet members, and even the President.
Additionally, each of the 104 selected representatives will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship. Established in 1962, the program boasts over 6,300 graduates, many of whom have pursued careers in public service.
To apply, students must be current juniors or seniors involved in student government or leadership roles during the 2025-2026 school year.
Students from Alabama should reach out to their high school principal or counselor, or visit ussenateyouth.org for more information about the application process and deadlines.
