Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Wallace to the Baghdad Unified School District Board of Governors. He will take office on February 9, 2023 and his term will expire on December 31, 2024. Mr. Wallace graduated from Rae High School in Kearny, Arizona with an associate’s degree in Applied Studies in Diesel and Electric Systems. He has lived in this district for four years and is married. The couple has two grown-up children and one of his students who attends a school in the district, as well as several grandchildren. Wallace said he has worked in the mining industry for 33 years. He is hired by Freeport as his supervisor in McMorran’s shop. His wife also works for his FMI.

Mr. Carter believes: Wallace understands the role of the board and strives to balance the needs of students, parents, staff and taxpayers. He seems to relate to all segments of the community and should work well with his fellow board members. ”

Mr. Carter received letters of interest and resumes and interviewed applicants. He then spoke individually with elected members of the board, members of the school’s staff and administration, and local residents prior to his appointment. Wallace said he took office on February 9, 2023.

Wallace has indicated his intention to run for the seat in the 2024 election cycle. That process began in March 2024, when he retrieved a packet, submitted a statement of intent to run, was issued a serial number by the Yavapai County Education Service Agency, and petitioned before being declared an eligible candidate for Midsummer. should be distributed.
