‘Are Things Cheaper For You?’: Harris Faulkner Presses Dem Guest Who Dodges Inflation Question To Talk About Race

Fox News host Harris Faulkner asked Democratic strategist Antjuan Searight on Wednesday whether Democrats were planning to stop using race as a campaign issue and instead point to the damaging effects of inflation weighing heavily on voters.

Since President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took office in January 2021, prices have risen 20%, with the annual inflation rate at peak It's expected to reach 9% by June 2022. Harris questioned Searight after showing a clip of women telling former CNN host Don Lemon why they wouldn't vote for Harris, noting that some black voters are considering Trump because of the color green, which stands for money. “I want to talk about race, but that's not a criterion Democrats have in mind. But there's one thing we can do, and that's maybe we can win back some of the people who were obviously going to Trump for another color, green, for money, because everything is so expensive and the economy is not in their favor,” Faulkner told Searight. “So race for Democrats, when are we going to give up that as a talking point and start focusing on the issues people are really facing right now, which have nothing to do with skin color or ethnicity, which is the pain that's on every shelf where you shop in America?”

“Well, I don't agree a bit,” Searight said, to which Faulkner interjected, “Are things cheap for you?”

Trump is receiving higher support from black voters in polls leading up to the 2024 election, compared to the 12% he received in the 2020 presidential election. CNN Exit pollsA CBS poll showed him with 17% support among black voters. release On Sunday, Fox News had a 26% vote Released on August 14th.

“There are 34.4 million African-Americans eligible to vote in this election, up 7% from 2020, according to the Pew Research Center,” Searight replied. “That means Black people have a huge influence in determining the future leaders of our country, so we can't let that go. Kamala Harris is the right choice.”

“So why does she need to say her race and their race? Why can't she meet them where their interests coincide?” Faulkner asked. “They'll vote in their own interests.”

Black voters outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago also voiced their intention to vote for Trump, with one voter saying, “He's done more for us than the media has tried to portray.”

“But I think Harris has done that throughout her career, and that's why Republicans are rallying for her on Zoom,” Searight argued. “She happens to be a woman, she happens to be Black, but she is, quite frankly, the most qualified person who has ever run for this office.”
