To be this wealthy and powerful…
Chiqui Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, was caught on camera wiping sweat with a “personal sweat wipe” during the Copa America semi-final match against Canada, which Argentina won. 2-0.
Tuesday night's win secured Argentina a place in the final, with superstar Lionel Messi scoring the winning goal to lead the team to glory. (Related: Turkish authorities suspend Merih Demiral for celebrating with hand signs linked to ultranationalist group Grey Wolves)
However, the attention of many soccer fans 56 years old Tapia was photographed literally being searched by a man behind him. Fede Cristofanelliis the manager's “personal sweat wiper.”
There has been some criticism of Tapia on social media, but honestly, it's hard to hate on someone who has so much power and wealth, who displays it so elegantly, and who has backed it all up by winning the 2021 Copa America and the 2023 World Cup, before reaching three consecutive major finals.
The pomp and circumstance is incredibly surreal.

It's an apt metaphor for the trajectory of many senior football administrators that is out of touch with reality. pic.twitter.com/BmDptZZjyY
