PHOENIX — Arizona Attorney General Mark Brunovich announced this week that his office has awarded nearly $4 million in grants to combat the effects of the opioid crisis.
More than $1.7 million will be distributed across eight different programs in the state’s two largest counties, Maricopa and Pima, to help nearly 14,000 people, according to a press release on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Brnovich’s office announced an additional $2.2 million in grants to 11 groups helping more than 100,000 people in local counties.
The funding is part of the One Arizona Plan, which has settled with four pharmaceutical companies for their role in the opioid crisis.
The “One Arizona Plan” is a framework for distributing funds from future opioid settlements signed by all 90 cities and towns and 15 counties in the state in August.
The goal is to serve a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational needs.
