Apache Junction, Arizona (NBC, KYMA/KECY) – A plane crashed Saturday morning in the Superstition Mountains area of Arizona, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials have identified the plane as a single-engine aircraft that took off from Falcon Field Airport.
The plane was flying with three other planes when it crashed under unknown circumstances, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said.
Two people were on board the plane, both of whom were fatally injured, NTSB officials said.
Authorities have not released the identities of the two at this time. A preliminary report he expects to be produced within two to three weeks.
