Arizona Cardinals give back to Yuma community

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) — The Arizona Cardinals are in Yuma on Tuesday to help pack food for the Yuma Community Food Bank, which assembles and distributes 13,000 emergency food boxes each month.

That includes more than 200 travel packages per month for immigrant families, and that number could increase further in preparation for a surge after Title 42 ends this Thursday.

The Cardinals say they’re here to help them.

Laura Aronson spoke with former Arizona Cardinal and NFL alum Lorenzo Alexander, excited to be in Yuma.

“For us, having actually spent so much time in the Phoenix community, it’s really great to be able to get out there, reach out, experience a little more of what Arizona has to offer, and contribute to the rest of Arizona. That’s really cool.” It’s cool today. So it’s not just players, but also members of the community,” Alexander said.

Former Arizona Cardinal and NFL alumnus Derek Kennard said, “Everyone is going through a difficult time with this coronavirus pandemic, and some workers have not been rehired, and they and most It’s been a difficult process for the family of the family,” he added. So we came here to volunteer. “

Arizona Western University faculty, staff and students attended the Cardinals this morning.
