Thatcher — Thanks to state funding, Thatcher is undergoing major road improvements.
Thatcher Mayor Heath Brown said Wednesday that the town has been approved for $4.5 million to rebuild 8th Avenue between 1st and 20th Avenues.
The plan is to transform 8th Avenue into a three-lane driveway with curbs and sidewalks. A new intersection will also be built on the canal and railroad tracks.
“This is very exciting news for us,” Brown said in an email. “We would like to thank Tom Palmer for his vision on this project and for his work on the project and submission of the application to the state.”
Brown said design and land acquisition are top priorities and he hopes the construction schedule will move quickly.
