Phoenix – A flood that struck Gila County on September 26th resulted in the deaths of three individuals and caused severe damage to the towns of Grove and Miami.
On Friday, Eli Crane, who represents this area, met with local leaders and witnessed the extensive destruction firsthand.
“Our thoughts are with Gila County, particularly the families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy,” Crane remarked. “My team and I are in regular contact with partners at various levels of government. We are grateful for the efforts of community leaders and the commitment of our first responders. This flood has been devastating, yet it’s heartening to see so many volunteers stepping up to assist our fellow Arizonans during this difficult time.”
Crane expressed his support for “all avenues of assistance, including requests to agencies like the Small Business Administration, the Department of Agriculture, FEMA, and the Federal Highways Administration.”
At a community meeting on Thursday, officials from the state Forestry and Fire Department indicated that ongoing cleanup efforts are a critical focus, with funding for individuals and businesses expected in the coming months. However, they couldn’t specify the exact amount available as fundraising is still ongoing.
