Human trafficking detectives with the Yavapai County Task Force arrested a 31-year-old man on January 11th on suspicion of soliciting sex for financial gain.
Yavapai County, Arizona — A man was arrested on January 11th after allegedly soliciting sex from an underage girl for money. authorities said.
Human trafficking detectives with the Yavapai County Task Force arrested Leon Baskerville, 31, of Prescott Valley. Baskerville allegedly contacted the girl and agreed to meet, where detectives were able to arrest Baskerville on child sex trafficking charges.
Authorities said Baskerville was found in possession of a weapon that he was not authorized to possess due to a previous arrest, as well as other evidence related to the human trafficking charges. He was arrested and booked into the county jail on charges of weapons offenses and solicitation of sex for payment from an underage girl, authorities said.
“I'm proud of our human trafficking detectives for removing this predator from our city,” Yavapai County Sheriff David Rose said in a press release. “The crimes committed at the expense of our most vulnerable are particularly heinous, and thanks to the hard work of law enforcement, children are no longer at risk from this man. ”
The human trafficking detective is the first to join the Yavapai County Partners Against Drug Trafficking Task Force, which is funded in part by the Arizona Legislature and the Governor's Anti-Human Trafficking Grant Fund.
